Fundraiser for Being Peace practice centre

For a few years now the Plum Village community has been working on establishing a UK residential practice centre in the Plum Village tradition. The centre was first envisioned by Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh in 1997. He gave it the name Being Peace.

The centre is now within reach. Plum Village UK are close to buying the Abenhall Estate in Gloucestershire. The site can already host around 30 visitors for retreats at the same time, with potential to expand to around 60. The year-round practice centre will have visiting monastics for 2-3 months per year initially, with the intention to eventually become a permanent Plum Village monastery in the UK.

In order to secure the site, the team needs to raise £1 million by 16th of April 2025. They are very close to this goal. And all donations are currently being matched.

As Kingston Mindfulness Meditation Group is following the Plum Village tradition in our practice, this project is close to our hearts. We have decided to support the effort with a fundraiser.
